Halloween

The Ruiz Family's Halloween was pretty uneventful. Preston went to work, dressed as a convict, Jaxon spent the day swinging between happiness and total meltdown, and I stationed myself here at the computer and typed away. Aunt Jenny came over in the afternoon so we could take Jaxon up to Daddy's office before closing to show off his costume, but they shut down early so families could get an early jump on trick-or treating, so we went to Aunt Jenny's work instead to see everyone else that dressed up. We met up with Preston and had some dinner, and then decided to head over to Grandpa's house (we have the distinction of being the only trick-or-treaters allowed at Grandpa's!), he loaded Jaxon up with candy corn (which Jaxon LOVES), little suckers and a couple handfuls of Halloween fruit snacks. Jaxon played for a little bit, and with his bag already almost full, we headed back home to hit a few houses around the neighborhood before heading back home. I wasn't feeling well, and Jaxon was tired from all the excitement--so nobody seemed to mind the early night. Jenny and I spent the rest of the evening laboring over a gigantic pumpkin (I know, its a little counter-intuitive to carve the pumpkin on Halloween), Preston toasted the seeds and Jaxon enjoyed a cupcake left over from the 4-dozen I made for Preston's employees. No, it wasn't exciting... but Jaxon was danged cute.

Jaxon was the cutest "Shrek" ever.

Jaxon, inspecting Daddy's shackles.

Jenny's monster, Mung. Actually she named it something else but neither Preston or I can remember what it was.

Boris the spider, carved by me.

J is the cutest Shrek ever! Will and I are envious of your awesome pumpkins. Almost makes me wish I hadn't copped (sp?) out. Almost. But not quite.
